Sergei Bykov (new)

Sergei Bykov was a participant of the Garage workshop with Michael Ackerman, Amsterdam February, 2010

We wanted to highlight some of the new work by our friend Sergei, recently returned to his homeland, Russia. His images are terrifying yet comforting - for us this is a photographer to not loose out of sight.

Soon we'll publish more images and a link to the gallery that presently represents him in St Petersburg.

Find his post on the "participants gallery" here.

Joakim Kocjancic

Joakim Kocjancic is born in 1975 in Milan, Italy. Since 2006 he lives in Stockholm (Sweden), working as a freelance photographer. He studied painting and photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and Carrara (Italy) and a MA in photojournalism at LCC in London (2005).

All his work is in black and white and analogue, it's about a subjective vision of cities and its people in our western culture. It's an artistic document of our time. You could define his work as: "a personal street/straight photography, direct and intuitive, with a grittier mood".

Joakim has been represented at the Fotofestival in Rome, selected at Viewbook photostory in 2010 and for MONO (Gomma mag) in 2012. He is going to have a personal exhibition at Galleri Kontrast in Stockholm and at Forma in Milan this coming autumn.

"I followed the workshop in Amsterdam with M. Ackerman. I loved the garage/studio place where we had the workshop. We used the space also as a studio and we all could take portraits of each other, it was very liberating seeing everybody taking pictures in their own way. The Insight family has been very helpful and welcoming creating a good energy within the group. It has been an intensive and inspiring week." - JK

Cindy Jansen

Cindy Jansen about Lover get down:

"Lover get down gives an impression of a sadomasochistic encounter, embedded in daily activities and surroundings. Places where a masteress leans against a kitchen sink, a woman lies stretched out on a bed, and a wig hangs down form a closet. With this photo series Jansen likes to raise questions as: How do we nowadays deal with morality? Can we shamelessly and without any consequences step out of one world into another? The response of the audience places the work in a wider, sociological framework; that of contemporary morality and ethics."

Cindy was a participant of the Michael Ackerman Garage workshop in Amsterdam.
